Richard Willian Wright was born on July 28th 1943 located in Hatch End.

He learned to play the trombone, guitar trumpet, piano, and guitar at the age of 12 while recovering from a broken leg.

Wright received private music theory lessons and composition while at the Eric Gilder School of Music and was inspired by the trad jazz revival. He learned the saxophone and other instruments, but he continued to learn piano.

He met Roger Waters and Nick Mason at the University of Westminster.

He sang harmony often and lead vocals occasionally on stage as well as in the studio in the studio with Pink Floyd, most notably on the singles ‘Time’ “Echoes,” ‘Wearing the Inside Out Astronomy Domine’, and “Matilda Mother.”.

 

Apart from his work in the group, Wright released his own solo album entitled ‘Wetdream in the year 1978. He started a new group and Dave Harris, jointly recording an album of songs titled “Identity”.

In his lifetime, Wright has given many memorable live shows. On stage, he experienced three marriages, and three children one from his first marriage and third marriage. He died from cancer at 65.
